Small “Well Actually” Literal Net intrusion… in the Rachel Maddow section, she mentions that the nation was founded by people escaping religious persecution, which technically is at least half true for the North East, since a good amount of them were seeking gold (yes in the Massachusetts colony too) and other money making activities. Even assuming that, she leaves out the fact that the “pilgrims” were escaping religious persecution so they could set up some of their own, and instituted a semi-theocracy which anyone who has come from other parts of the country and attempted to buy beer on sunday still feels… (needless to say that that relic of the Blue Laws is a much watered down version of what was here in the late 17th through the 19th centuries…) However, I still agree with the spirit of what she was trying to say, and frankly this hue and cry over the center in Manhattan makes me question my current dreamed course of career (I’m a high-schooler hoping to major in poli-sci when I go to college)

(apologies for the double post, but I didn’t finish the podcast before I posted, and I’m afraid I don’t see an edit button (requested feature)) I actually have a relative that’s a pretty high level republican operative, and he freely admits that the republican strategy is basically to rattle the loudest sabres as possible, and they don’t have any ideas. He’s an intelligent guy, and I have no idea how the reconciles the fact that he helps elect people who have no idea how to run the country, and rely on their private industry friends instead with his conscience, but he apparently does.

Thanks Jay, this podcast made me feel less alone in my disgust over the Park 51 one issue. There are days when I just can only shake my head because it seems that the majority of people in this country are running headlong towards more hate and repression. Every religion has its fanatics, including Christians – Look at Fred Phelps, The Army of God, etc.I see no one up in arms over those people. We are given religious freedom via our Constitution, therefore why does anymore need to be said? Well, because the truth needs to get out, repeated, and remembered. Thanks again Jay
