Thank you, thank you, thank you. Best of the Best of the Left ever!!! Loved the theme. I do recall hearing a more detailed discussion about “The Family” some time ago on the 2nd hour of the 5/19/08 Rachel Maddow show. Maybe a good addition to any future shows of similar themes.

Most of the show was able to hit your premise on the anilhead. You could have eliminated the lst part. People who get so angry they let emotions overrule get nowhere. This opens you up to being a crack pot and dismissed. I have listened to your podcast for over two years. I personally believe you are above this. Please argue logically even when you are arguing an emotional issue.

The Young Turks segment was my favorite of the podcast! Please don’t let the fake “logic” crowd intimidate you into avoiding strong criticism of religious institutions!

Remember, non-believers are full citizens in this country. The secular government is a compromise between the theists and the non-theists. I think Cenk was too easy on the theocratic leaning types out there.

“People who get so angry they let emotions overrule get nowhere. This opens you up to being a crack pot and dismissed”

When Jesus cleared the temple of the moneychangers and animal-sellers, He showed great emotion and anger (Matthew 21:12-13; Mark 11:15-18; John 2:13-22)

and wtf is an anilhead?

Cenks critique of religion was a simplistic, emotional response to the evil deeds of a very small minority of religious people.

May Joe have mercy on his soul.

Excellent. I am actually thinking of forwarding this to my minister — she’s very open to a variety of opinions and we’ve been talking about these issues back and forth for a while. I think she would enjoy it. Still pondering though.

Also, completely changes the way I look at my hamster. I feel so god-like.

The speech about oranges was pretty hilarious. Unfortunately, the person narrating it did a poor job of presentation. He spent so much of his air time laughing at his own wit that 100% of his speech became useless. Lucky for him that the guy giving the orange speech was so hilarious.

Clever idea to present, and the dialog surrounding it may have been great, too. Please try not to laugh so much at your own jokes, though. Even if they’re funny, that sort of thing kills my interest faster than anything.

I have listened a long time and every edisode has been great, but “All in the Family” was the best so far. The last segment from the Young Turks was a masterpiece. Faith does not equal religion. I admire your guts to put this one together. Keep on putting out the best podcast on the net.

Best episode ever! Thank you for courageously addressing a sensitive, yet essential, topic.

Relatively new listener to podcasts and I am loving every minute of this show. This whole episode summed up the cynicism and deep visceral anger I feel about religion in the U.S. in particular, and world religion in general. It makes me so angry, I dare not speak, and I am so glad someone is doing it for me and I get to listen to it all! Thank you, thank you, thank you! I’m passing on the website to my like minded brothers and sisters who may not know it. Peace – It’s a Hippie thing, You wouldn’t understand!

Hey, thanks everybody. I’m so glad that you all liked the show so much! These episodes on religion are, by far, my favorites to make. They’re just so fun! They’re definitely near the top of my priority list so you can expect more of the same in the future whenever I get the chance.

Love the show. Keep up the good work. We need to let the crazys know that the smart people are not buying any of the religion crap.
