Bush’s Last Ditch Efforts

According to the Washington Post’s R. Jeffrey Smith, the White House is attempting to enact several new regulations that would work to weaken government protections for consumers and the environment.

“The new rules would be among the most controversial deregulatory steps of the Bush era and could be difficult for his successor to undo. Some would ease or lift constraints on private industry, including power plants, mines and farm”

Al Gore to Obama: 5 steps for change

In his op-ed article for the New York Times, Al Gore has presented Barack Obama with a clear-cut plan for change to American environmental practices and laws.

Gore suggested that if we put our efforts together and set a goal, then we could kill three birds with one stone: eliminate the threat of global warming, help the ailing economy, and cease our dependence on foreign oil. Read further about Gore’s five-step solution!

McCain won’t regulate greenhouse gas emissions

The truth spills out!

John McCain and Sarah Palin seem to be supporting technology that would help decrease the rising greenhouse gas levels, or so says their official website. What McCain’s “climate change” position doesn’t tell you is that John doesn’t plan to do a thing about global warming. Sure, he’ll tell corporations to “set limits on greenhouse gas emissions,” but these limits are voluntary, not mandatory.

It’s like asking metro passengers to move towards the center of the train car in order to allow for more people to cram into the train. Some passengers will do it automatically, but others will stand near the doors blocking everyone else’s way in and out of the train car.

A voluntary cap-and-trade system, optional wind and solar technology, and a recycle-if-you-feel-like-it mentality will not save the planet. If reduction of GHG emissions will not be a law, it won’t mean much.

Read more to find out why McCain and Palin will not put the Planet First!

Watch Al Gore in live webcast

So, there’s two organization that are really worth knowing about. The first is Al Gore’s most recent publicity machine that’s being used as the public face of his efforts to fight global warming and that WeCanSolveIt.org, there’s a pretty decent chance you’ve seen some of their commercials.

The other is the Energy Action Coalition. This is a youth-run organization dedicated to engaging students in the political process to demand a clean and just energy future. Find out more about them at EnergyActionCoalition.org, they’re good people.

So this leads to the fact that these two great groups are coming together when Al Gore conducts a live webcast for the PowerVote campaign. PowerVote is the EAC Get-Out-The-Vote campaign they’re running with their goal set at getting 1 million youth to pledge to vote for clean energy this November.

Even if you’ve never actually heard of these groups and you’re not a college student you should still be interested for these three reasons: 1.Al Gore 2.global warming and 3.Al Gore & other people coming together to try and do something about global warming.

Sign up to watch the live webcast on Oct. 29th at 8pm EST.
