Downloading YouTube clips
There are many great, progressive shows that post clips of their programs on YouTube. The big names are The Young Turks, Thom Hartmann, Sam Seder, Midweek Politics, This Week in Blackness and a few others. Though you’re not technically supposed to be able to download YouTube clips, this can be done with some free software.
Choosing the clips is easy. I subscribe to the RSS feeds from each of these shows and then download only the clips that sound political while skipping over the pop culture clips.
Downloading the clips is easy. The best way I have found to download individual clips from YouTube for use in the show is with a free program called Tooble.
Once the clips are downloaded, the only thing I ask of you before you send them to me is to label the file name of each clips to include the political category it fits in by adding the category after the regular file name in parenthesis. See the full(ish) list below.
Once you’ve downloaded and labeled the clips I ask that you use another free program called ‘Dropbox’ to transfer the relatively large video files to me. Check that out at Dropbox.com and watch the video to see it in action. When you get a Dropbox account let me know what email address is attached to it so I can share a folder with you to use for the YouTube clips.
If this is interesting to you and you’d like to help with one, part of one, or multiple shows listed above just drop me a line at Jay (at) BestoftheLeft (dot) com. Thanks!
