The center-right confusion
Christopher Beam is just as curious as I am to find out what in the world does “center-right” mean when used to describe America. Who gets to decide whether America is left or right, and why can’t it be both?
In his article, Center-What?, Mr. Beam debates that the definition of center-right has no basis nor meaning, and America is therefore as undefined as ever.
Read further to find out the meaning of center-right for yourself!

Nationalise voting, just like the healthcare!
Would our voting process simplify and improve if we were to nationalise the voting process itself? If the entire country had either the paper ballots or the electronic machines, or only one type of ballot, would it be easier to prevent voting mistakes and confusion? And of course, why not have the government register voters when they become of age or submit change of address forms?
There are enough problems voters face at the polls. Some are being turned away because the names on their IDs do not precisely match the DMV database. Others’ votes are refused due to a pen mark or a scratch on the ballot from the voting machine.
Although nationalising the voting system will not rid us of all the election time headaches, it just might make it less confusing. And just like universal healthcare, it might be better!
Read more to find out why a national voting system may be a solution for 2012!
