A moral decree from the vatican’t

“The Vatican issued the most authoritative and sweeping document on bioethical issues in 20 years on Friday, taking into account recent developments in biomedical technology and reinforcing the church’s opposition to in vitro fertilization, human cloning, genetic testing on embryos before implantation and embryonic stem cell research,” report Povoledo and Goodstein of the NY Times.

Obama to reverse Bush’s executive orders

President-elect Barack Obama met with President Bush (that must have been awkward!) this afternoon to discuss the war, the economy, and to get a tour of the Obama’s new home come January 20, 2009.

The BBC (and every other news agency) is reporting that with the Bush presidency nearing its end the Republicans are planning to pass last minute proposals that will be difficult for Obama to change once he’s in office. Although, the Bush administration is denying their plans.

Barack Obama also has plans of his own, to quickly change many of Bush’s executive orders that are detrimental to the society and to the progress of science. Read more to find out which laws may be affected in ’09!
