The Palin Problem
Our very first ever non-podcast-related blog post here at Best of the Left comes to us from the right wing equivalent of the Huffington Post. Kathleen Parker, a stalwart conservative columnist and frequent blogger at Townhall.com, spent the first month after Sarah Palin’s nomination defending her non-credentials and accusing her critics of sexism.
Well, that tune has changed in the wake of Palin’s recent set of major interviews that showed her to be the moron that she is. Ms. Parker has written an article stating in no uncertain terms that Sarah Palin is a problem for the McCain campaign and should take herself out of the race. Delicious!
Quotes from Kathleen Parker’s article entitled “The Palin Problem,” after the break
As we’ve seen and heard more from John McCain’s running mate, it is increasingly clear that Palin is a problem. Quick study or not, she doesn’t know enough about economics and foreign policy to make Americans comfortable with a President Palin should conditions warrant her promotion.
Palin’s recent interviews with Charles Gibson, Sean Hannity and now Katie Couric have all revealed an attractive, earnest, confident candidate. Who Is Clearly Out Of Her League.
Like so many women, I’ve been pulling for Palin, wishing her the best, hoping she will perform brilliantly. I’ve also noticed that I watch her interviews with the held breath of an anxious parent, my finger poised over the mute button in case it gets too painful. Unfortunately, it often does. My cringe reflex is exhausted.
What’s been obvious to many is now becoming apparent to even the most ideologically blinded. Let’s hope that the middle of the country, which isn’t paying as much attention to the race as political columnists, will start to get this message sooner rather than later. The Vice Presidential debates may just turn out to be the most political fun we’ve had in a long time.

McCain’s campaign should be 100% discredited by the simple fact that he chose a running mate that in no way is fit to potentially run the country. It is irresponsible and shows just how poorly his decision making is and how inseparable he is from the partisan politics that have run the country for the past 8 years.
It’s interesting that experience becomes an issue when the perceived person with inexperienced is a female conservative vice presidential candidate. It makes me wonder what qualifies for enough experience to people who question Palin’s experience. Do a few years in the Senate and a community organizer give one the credentials to be president, or even the vice president? It might not be her lack of experience that appalls you, it might be her conservatism.
One of the least experienced presidential candidates in the history of our country will be sworn in if Obama wins. Palin will only take over a presidency if McCain win’s and subsequently dies during his term. It sounds like risk mitigation should be focused on Obama if one is truly worried about experience.
Obama, while relatively inexperienced, is intelligent. I’ll defer to Parker’s opinion concerning Palin’s capabilities.
Happily she is proving to be an anchor to McCain’s run for President. Many thanks to Parker, George Will, Charlie Gibson, Katie Couric &, most of all, Tina Fey for exposing Sarah as sharing the IQ of the proverbial “pitbull with lipstick” she so gushingly ID’s with.

It is a sad commentary on America that (it is inevitable that) almost half of the voters will either not realize or not care how unqualified Sarah Palin is to serve the office of the vice president. This election should not be nearly as close as the polls say it is, which is such a sad statement on the values and priorities of almost half of those voting.
